Charitable Giving
I have included this section only to defend the incessant attacks that I am completely and entirely selfish. While, that's someone's personal prerogative, I don't believe this personally. I have donated to multitudes of charities. Like MC Hammer, I have been unwise in giving irresponsibly. I can no longer afford to give like I once did. In these unsettled political times, I state this publicly to avoid the many forms of trouble that I encounter when someone is PERCEIVED as wealthy, but, in fact, they are not. There is no end to the innuendo that surrounds my being. So, I share this with potential students to try to appeal the many errant perceptions that have been following me for many, many years (and I never really ever knew).
I will only list the top ten on my list. The list is much, much longer than that. There are so many worthy charities and it brings me great pleasure to know that I have been able to do this while managing to take care of my own household. I am not "plugging" socialism OR communism. I am just relaying that I am not a selfish person, as weak-in-spirit as I am right now.
Post 911 GI Bill Scholarship - nearly $150,000 in value. I will not use this. I refuse to use this. I have a Master's Degree and the funds will be better utilized in the hands (hopefully, they still have them) by another very badly afflicted American Veteran or Veterans.
Navy Marine Corps Relief Society - nearly $30,000 in contributions
United Services Organization - nearly $10,000 in contributions
United States Naval Academy - nearly $10,000 in contributions
United Way of Norwalk and Wilton - nearly $10,000 in contributions
Norwalk and Arlington County Fire Departments - nearly $7,500 in contributions
Colgate University - nearly $7,500 in contributions
Habitat for Humanity - nearly $5,000 in contributions
Hospital for Special Surgery - nearly $5,000 in contributions
Washington DC JCC - nearly $5,000 in contributions
Doctors without Borders - nearly $3,000 in contributions
Central Asia Institute - nearly $750 in contributions
Utah Food Bank and local homeless - nearly $300 dollars
...and so many other charitable organizations....
